Transducer Engineering

About the Subject:

A transducer is a device that converts one form of energy to another. Usually a transducer converts a signal in one form of energy to a signal in another. Transducers are often employed at the boundaries of automation, measurement, and control systems, where electrical signals are converted to and from other physical quantities. A thermocouple converts heat energy into electrical voltage.

Topics to be covered in this Seminar:

Calibration methods – Static calibration – Limiting error and probable error – Error analysis – Statistical methods – Odds and uncertainty – Selection of transducers -Static characteristics-Dynamic characteristics– Mathematical model of transducer –Response to impulse, step, ramp-construction details, characteristics and applications of potentiometer– Variable reluctance transducers – EI pick up – construction details, characteristics and applications of LVDT – Capacitor microphone – Frequency response-Piezoelectric transducer - Hall Effect transducer – Magneto elastic sensor- Digital transducers – Smart sensors - Fiber optic sensors-  Film sensors.
